Three indictments issued Friday

A Juneau grand jury handed up three indictments on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. According to the indictments, they are as follows:

• Tyler S. Forester, 23, was indicted for second-degree theft, a class ‘C’ felony, for stealing between $500 to $25,000 worth of property from Duck Creek Market in February 2013. Class ‘C’ felonies can be punishable by up to five years in prison.

• Zakkary R. Smith, 24, was indicted for interference with official proceedings and first-degree tampering with a witness for influencing or attempting to influence a witness on Sept. 30, 2013. The former charge is a class ‘B’ felony which can be punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and the latter is a class ‘C’ felony.

• Dillon I. Walter, 23, was indicted for second-degree theft for taking between $500 and $25,000 worth of property from Adeline Walter on Dec. 1, 2013. That’s a class ‘C’ felony.

Indictments are formal accusations of illegal activity, and they are not indicative of guilt. The District Attorney’s office in Juneau presents cases to the grand jury each Friday.
