Police found and arrested a man who ran away from a halfway house in Juneau, thanks to a Thursday morning traffic stop.

A Juneau Police Department officer stopped a speeding vehicle on Yandukin Drive at about 4 a.m. Thursday and identified 39-year-old Derek McMillian as a passenger in the vehicle, according to a JPD release. McMillian was arrested on a no-bail warrant and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Police previously said McMillian had escaped the Gastineau Human Services Halfway House on Aisek Street on Jan. 3 and they asked the public to help find him. He has a lengthy criminal record in Florida and Alaska, including drug offenses, robbery, vehicle theft and assault, JPD said.

In Thursday’s JPD release, police identified the person driving the vehicle as Regal Robert Hudson, a 20-year-old Juneau resident. Hudson was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license, and he was also taken to LCCC, police said.
