JUNEAU — Those who haven’t visited the state Capitol in a while will notice some changes.
The ground floor security desk has been moved away from the elevator bank and closer to the building’s entrance. Antique phone booths have replaced the vending machines on that floor.
On the second floor, where the House and Senate chambers are located, a nook that served as a wireless hotspot has been filled instead with soda and snack machines.
Pam Varni is executive director of the Legislative Affairs Agency.
She said the goal was to make the lobby more open and to move the vending machines nearer to the legislative lounge, where people are already getting food. She also said there is Wi-Fi throughout the building.
Varni said she thinks the new arrangement will suit people better.
