Police seek suspected home burglars

Juneau police are seeking burglars who stole $2,800 worth of tools from a home under construction in the Auke Bay area earlier this month.

The suspects took a locked steel chest that contained the tools from the home in the 10000 block of Ann Coleman Road, located off Fritz Cove Road, police said.

Lt. Kris Sell said the height and weight of the tool chest was sizable, so it’s probably safe to say at least two people were involved in the theft.

It’s possible the suspects made off in a white pickup truck, Sell said. Neighbors reported seeing a white pickup at the home during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2. The theft was reported to police the next day.

Sell said the neighbors disagreed about the year of the truck — one said it looked like new, and the other said it looked like it was from the mid-1990s.

The witnesses agreed, however, that the white pickup had a white canopy on it, Sell said.

Police ask that if anyone has information regarding this case to report it to JPD at 586-0600 or report it to the Juneau Crime Line at juneaucrimeline.com. The Crime Line guarantees tipsters’ anonymity and can reward tipsters with cash.
