Forget your dancing shoes, but not your wallet — the Juneau Chamber of Commerce organized its first “Cash Mob” event, similar to a “Flash Mob” but with locals gathering at a local business to spend a little money. Using social media platforms like Facebook, the chamber encouraged Juneau residents to visit Trove at 3 p.m. Tuesday armed with $20 to spend. The goal is to boost local businesses in an era of online giants like Amazon. Dozens attended the event and other businesses were encouraged to sign up to participate in future cash mobs.
