Medical issues cause of Wednesday car crash on Egan

A single vehicle car crash closed Egan Drive for a short while Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a 25-year-old driver had a medical issue and crashed his car into a guardrail on Egan Drive inbound near Walmart at about 4:27 p.m.

The driver, identified by police as Cory Kim, did not sustain any injuries from the crash, police said. He was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for a medical evaluation, according to a Juneau Police Department press release.

Traffic was closed on Egan Drive inbound for about 30 minutes as the Juneau Police Department and Capital City Fire and Rescue responded. The outbound lane of Egan was diverted down the Glacier Highway off-ramp by Walmart, then rerouted back onto Egan.
