Man arrested for shooting off round in Switzer trailer

The sign for Switzer Village Mobile Home Park is seen on Wednesday. Police responded to a report of a gunshot fired at one of the trailers Tuesday night and arrested a man on suspicion of misdemeanor criminal mischief and weapons misconduct.

A 36-year-old Juneau man was arrested on criminal mischief and weapons misconduct charges Tuesday night for allegedly shooting a round through the ceiling of his Switzer Village trailer, police say.

Police responded to a report of a shot fired at the trailer park in the 6500 block of Glacier Highway at about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Juneau Police Department news release.

Responding officers contacted three people where the incident occurred, and an investigation revealed that Samuel StClair had been arguing with one of the residents about someone spending the night, the release states. StClair then allegedly made suicidal comments, armed himself with a rifle and fired one shot in the air at the ceiling of the trailer, police said.

The suspect was alone in the room when he fired the shot, and the shot was not aimed at anyone, police said. No one in the trailer was injured or threatened, police said.

StClair was arrested on the two misdemeanor charges and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center in Juneau where he was held without bail.
