Lecturer to discuss ownership of clan crests, designs

Sealaska Heritage Institute will host a visiting scholar from Norway to discuss intellectual property claims associated with clan crests, names, songs and stories.

Jacob Adams, a Ph.D. student in law who serves on the law faculty at the University of Tromsø in Norway, will discuss how trademark and copyright laws apply to tribal and indigenous items.

The lecture begins at noon Thursday in the Walter Soboleff Building’s Living History Center.
