Alaska’s state politicians may deserve pay raises, but they won’t be getting them next year, in part so as to not offend voters in an election year.
The State Officers Compensation Commission on Thursday decided not to increase pay next year for Alaska’s elected officials, including Gov. Sean Parnell, Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell, the 60 members of the Alaska Legislature and top department heads.
“The times are still not good out there,” said commission member Mike Miller, a Republican former legislator from North Pole.
