As veterans across the country are honored this weekend, those in Juneau have a chance Saturday night to make a difference in the lives of local veterans.

The Moose Family Center, Lodge 700 &Chapter 439, is hosting a free Veterans Day spaghetti dinner from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, but donations are appreciated. The lodge is located at 8335 Airport Boulevard.

All of the donations from the event will go to veterans in Southeast Alaska, Moose Chapter Secretary Treasurer Shirley McCoy said Wednesday.

The chapter will work with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post to ensure that the money raised Saturday will go to veterans living in Juneau and Southeast Alaska, McCoy said.

“It gives people a real comfort level that the money will go to people in their own community,” McCoy said.
