Free forum tackles local housing issues

Housing is always a hot topic in Juneau, and those who are curious about the city’s housing market will have all day Thursday to learn more.

The City and Borough of Juneau is hosting a free Housing &Development Forum from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Vocational Training &Resource Center at 3239 Hospital Drive. People can RSVP to the event by calling 586-0789 or emailing CDD_Admin@juneau.org.

The forum includes sessions on topics such as building and housing trends, buying a house, permit processes, property assessment process, zoning updates, affordable housing programs and more. CBJ staff members, local builders, realtors, Affordable Housing Commission members, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation representatives and an Alaska Legal Service representative will be the presenters.

Anyone and everyone is welcome at the free event. Builders and realtors can qualify for education credits toward their residential contractor endorsements or real estate renewal.
