	Some summer not so far away, a million cruise passengers might visit Juneau.

	If building a new capitol in Juneau only involved a design competition, the project would be going pretty well.

	Not long ago, mining in and around Juneau was in a serious slump.

Oil and gas: Oil field construction may pick up in 2005
	Oil and gas activity continues at a modest pace around the state. The upcoming 2004-2005 winter exploration season looks to be a repeat of last year, with a handful of exploration wells drilled mainly by independent companies. ConocoPhillips Alaska, the one slope producer still exploring, has yet to announce its plans for the winter.

	Southeast's salmon and halibut fishermen are optimistic about the year ahead.

Housing: Property values in Juneau continue to increase
	Home ownership is thriving in Juneau, but a shortage of available land for development is making it more difficult and expensive to find a home.

Building: Three major building projects well under way in 2005
	By the end of next year, Juneau residents should see the exteriors of a big addition to Bartlett Regional Hospital and a fisheries research center at Lena Point.
