Reason for joining the fire service: To help people in their time of need.

Favorite aspect of the fire service: : The idea of family, the variety in the job, challenges and new opportunities to learn, being part of and working as a team.

Reason nominated: Since joining, Phil has shown a strong dedication to the department and to Douglas station. While not a live-in, he can be counted on to show up on shift nights (and oftentimes off-shift nights), jumping right in to help with rig checks, training, and station duties. He always takes an active role in drill participation, both in learning as well as helping others. He always takes the initiative with learning new things, continuing his own qualifications and certifications, and helping to solve problems.
