Thunder Mountain Riders claim awards at state contest

The Thunder Mountain Riders 4-H club brought a bunch of awards home from the state 4-H Horse Contest, which took place April 15 and 16 in Kodiak.

The team of Cathy Mattson, Natalia Spengler, Lauren Shanley-Debuse and Kylie Ibias took third in horse judging and horse bowl, second in hippology overall, hippology stations and the hippology exam.

Individually, Mattson finished third as an individual in seniors judging in the individual horse bowl high points race and in hippology stations. Ibias claimed a second-place finish in senior public speeches and senior horse judging.
