Juneau Community Foundation establishes new Field of Interest Funds
The Juneau Community Foundation has set up the following new funds for local residents to support local nonprofits and programs: The Juneau Health Fund, The Juneau Recreation Fund, The Juneau Social Services Fund and the Juneau Arts & Culture Fund.
Donations to a Field of Interest Fund go to local programs in each of the subject areas. For example, donations to the Recreation Fund could fund local trails, parks, or recreation facilities. Donations to the Social Services Fund might support local food banks, The Glory Hole, drug and alcohol programs, or similar individual or family support efforts.
Decisions on grant funds will be made by the Juneau Community Foundation Board of Directors, which may use advisory boards for each of the Field of Interest Funds.
These four new funds join the already existing Juneau Schools Fund and the Juneau Youth Sports and Activities Field of Interest Funds. The Youth Sports and Activities Fund issued a series of grants last fall to several local programs that provide youth activities including the Hockey Club, Sailing Club, SAIL, Juneau Jumpers, and youth music programs.
Juneau residents are encouraged to donate to these new funds.
