Cassie Iutzi is the 2011 recipient of the American Medical Association Foundation’s Arthur N. Wilson, MD Scholarship, the foundation announced Wednesday.
Iutzi, a graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School and the University of Alaska Anchorage, is currently a third-year medical student at the University of Washington School of Medicine and is also pursuing a master’s degree at UW. She has volunteered as a medical interpreter at a clinic in Nicaraugua since 2004.
The $5,000 scholarship is given each year to a medical student from Southeast Alaska.
