Marie Drake Planetarium presents Retro Sci Fi

The Marie Drake Planetarium will show “The Day the Earth Stood Still” as part of its ongoing Retro Sci Fi series from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

In this 1951 movie, an alien (Klaatu) with his mighty robot (Gort) land their spacecraft on Cold War-era Earth just after the end of World War II. They bring an important message to Earth that Klaatu wishes to tell to all nations. However, communication turns out to be difficult.

The movie is free. Costumes and all ages are welcome. Hard chairs available, bring a blanket or more comfortable chair if you like.

The Marie Drake Planetarium is located downtown in the Marie Drake building, between Harborview Elementary and Juneau-Douglas High schools on Glacier Avenue.
