Volunteer firefigther for the month of August

Name: Steve Anderson

Credentials: Firefighter I, EMT I

District: Auke Bay

Employer: REACH

How long with the fire service: 1 year

Why did you join the fire service?: I joined the fire service out of the respect I’ve always felt for firefighters, especially after 9/11, and I wanted to be a part of the brotherhood that seemed to occur in the fire service.

Favorite Aspect of the fire service: My favorite thing about the fire service is the satisfaction I feel when I help those in some if their greatest times of need.

Reason nominated: Anderson has grown tremendously this year both as a firefighter and as an upcoming leader. Recently, he has stepped to the plate as the “house mom” at Auke Bay. He has also gained a lot of confidence by greatly increasing his responses in which he has been first on scene.

A big thank you to Bartlett Hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation department

Thank you to the staff and patients of Bartlett’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department for their donation of baby food. This much-needed donation is critical for providing healthy food to young family members, who are most in need of nutritious food. We should always remember that “healthy choices fight heart disease.” Bartlett’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department’s special, specific donation reminds us that the health of our children is the first step towards a long and healthy life, and their generosity is overwhelming. This donation will make a difference in the lives of babies and their families in need. Thank you Bartlett’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department!
