Thank You for Supporting Alaska Wildlife Alliance’s ‘Wildlife Wednesdays’

Thank you, Juneau. What great turnouts we had for the autumn “Wildlife Wednesday” informal lecture series sponsored by the Alaska Wildlife Alliance (AWA) - Southeast Chapter. We appreciate each and every one of you who attended the talks. Your questions, shared information, views, and visiting before and after the events enriched each “Wildlife Wednesday” experience. And a special thank you to those of you who joined the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, as well as to those who signed up to receive our alerts. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about our organization.

Thank you to our speakers: Eran Hood, Aaron Jacobs, Tom Mattice, Ernestine Hayes and Michael Penn. You rocked.

Before and after our presentations, we enjoyed slide shows presented by Jos Bakker.

Thank you to the great folks at Heritage Coffee Co. for generously donating coffee and condiments, and a special thanks to Holly Rebert for all of her help. Thank you to Jim Green and Jos Bakker for handling coffee duty at each event. And to go with that delicious coffee, these hosts baked homemade treats: Jos Bakker, Gudrun Bergvall, Irene Morris, Pat O’Brien, Jenny Pursell, and Linda Shaw. Special thanks to Carol Young at UAS for her support.

It was great to have Sara Hagen from the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) Bookstore selling Ernestine Hayes’ books at our October “Wildlife Wednesday.”

We appreciate the help we received from Jim Isturis and Sol Neely at UAS with securing the Glacier View Room for the lectures.

Many thanks to those who helped with advertising and newspaper coverage: Connie Brandel and Nancy Wallace at AWA for fliers, Katie Bausler and David Klein at UAS, Jeff Brown and KTOO, the folks at Copy Works and Copy Express, Dennis Harris and Capital Copy, The Juneau Empire, The Capital City Weekly, the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council, the Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau. And thank to to AWA-SE members and others who e-mailed and posted our fliers around town.

Last, but by no means least, thank you to all of the board members of AWA for their support and help with AWA-SE’s “Wildlife Wednesdays,” and to all of the dedicated AWA-SE board members, advisory board members, and active members who helped in many ways.

We had a great time with our autumn “Wildlife Wednesdays,” and we are looking forward to the winter series starting in January. You are going to love the speakers we have lined up for you.

Stuck in the snow

Thank you unnamed Behrends Mechanical employee and Trail Mix executive director Erik Boraas for the push Thursday in Cope Park. When snow and ice seemed an insurmountable obstacle for my little blue car, you set aside the business you inevitably had to give a push. Without your kindness, more drastic and expensive measures may have been necessary and my day would have had an unfortunate start. Actions such as this are exemplary of the wonderful community we call home.
