Women of Distinction

AWARE is delighted to announce the 2012 Women of Distinction: (L to R, front to back) Sharron Lobaugh, Amy Dressel, Megan Gregory, whose achievements will be honored as Young Woman of Distinction, and Joan O’Keefe. Each of these women has made exceptional contributions to our community and will be honored at Centennial Hall on March 3, 2012, at the Sixteenth Annual Women of Distinction Award Gala with a catered dinner and silent auction.

Local OSU honor roll recipient

Names of students who have made the Scholastic Honor Roll Fall term have been announced by Oregon State University. A total of 674 students earned straight-A (4.0). Another 3,283 earned a B-plus (3.5) or better to make the listing. To be on the Honor Roll, students must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work. With a 3.5 or better, Daniel T Piorkowski, a senior from Juneau studying computer science, made honor roll.

 

Meet Dr. Buckley

Cadie Buckley received her Doctorate in Molecular Bioscience and Bioengineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Dec. 17. Buckley is now a member of the faculty at the John Burns Medical School in Honolulu. She will teach Neuro Anatomy and continue her research.

Thanks for attending fundraiser at the Goldtown

On behalf of Congregation Sukkat Shalom, I would like to thank all those who attended the Fiddler on the Roof singalong at the Goldtown Nickelodeon on Dec. 25. We raised close to $700 which we donated to the American Civil Liberties Union, whose mission is to protect the personal liberties we all cherish and defend freedom every day all across America in every state.
