Juneau resident Kanaan Bausler graduated with a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences degree from Quest University Canada in Spring of 2011. Located in Squamish, British Columbia, Quest is Canada’s first independent, not-for-profit, nonsectarian university of the liberal arts and sciences. Bausler is a member of the inaugural class that began courses when the university opened in fall of 2007.
Bausler’s focus of study was on the atmospheric relationship between oceans and mountains. His capstone presentation was on techniques for observing physical earth systems. He developed a course, Exploring the Hydrological Cycle that is now part of the Physical Sciences Curriculum at Quest. Students in the course follow the path of a molecule of water on its journey through a coastal mountain drainage system on foot, raft and kayak from the glacier to the sea. Kanaan is the recipient of several student awards, including the Spirit of Quest Award.
