ICAN sponsoring free film

ICAN, International Cesarean Awareness Network, will be hosting a showing of the film “Doula: The Ultimate Birth Companion” at Silverbow Bakery. The showing is free with the purchase of an item from the Silverbow Bakery menu.

The Showing will be at 5 p.m. March 25 in the Silverbow back room.

The group hopes to raise awareness about doula services in Juneau as a way to prevent unnecessary cesarean section births. Local doula Jesse Higdon will be available at the film showing to answer questions and talk about the services available locally.

ICAN is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesarean section births through education, providing support during cesarean recovery and promoting vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).
