Capital City Rotaract, a Rotary sponsored service club for men and women ages 18 to 30, is coordinating the third annual Rotaract Chili Fest, this year.
Funds raised from the cook-off will go to the ShelterBox program. ShelterBox is an organization dedicated to providing temporary shelter and provisions for extended families in the event that a natural disaster has destroyed their homes.
The cook-off will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, March 30 at the Rendezvous Bar.
This is a 21-plus event and the cost is $5 at the door. Professional and amateur chefs alike will go head to head, bowl to bowl, in an attempt to be crowned the chili champion. Attendees will get a chance to try the various chili recipes, though results will be decided by a panel of judges.
Even if you can’t attend or you don’t like chili, Rotaract welcomes donations for this or other projects. Every year, Rotaract hosts a variety of events, including Oktoberfest for Breasts and the newly-launched Rotaract 5K Run or 1 Mile Walk to benefit organizations and charities at the local, national and international level.
Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 34361, Juneau, AK 99803. Checks should be made out to “Capital City Rotaract.”
Rotaract extends thanks in advance for community-wide help and support and asks that this information be shared with friends, relatives and co-workers who might be interested in participating or donating.
