Joseph Calnan, who lived for several years in Juneau with his family while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, has been named the new fire chief in rural Frenchtown, Mont.
Calnan was commander of USCG Rescue 21 project on Mayflower Island and was an officer with Capital City Fire and Rescue. He retired in July of 2011 and moved to Montana, hist home state, where his family remaining in Juneau will join him this Spring.
