Frokost among friends

A Norwegian breakfast — Frokost — will be served at an event open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at the Juneau Yacht Club at Aurora Harbor, off Egan Drive near Juneau-Douglas High School.

The meal is sponsored by the Svalbard Lodge, Sons of Norway of Juneau and is a Svalbard Lodge of Juneau scholarship fundraiser. The scholarship is awarded each year to a high school student for her or his post-secondary education.

The menu will include Norwegian specialties like sour cream waffles with strawberries and whipping cream, Norwegian eggs supreme, sausage-egg casserole, hashbrown casserole, Norwegian rolls, geitost cheese and pickled herring. Hot beverages and orange juice will also be served with the breakfast.

Music will be played by Dale Wygant, on accordion, and friends; Folk Festival musicians are encouraged to come out and jam.

There will be door prizes, cultural displays, and children’s Scandinavian games and crafts. Suggested donations are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $5 for children 12 and under. For more information or with questions, contact Lowell at 790-2966.
