On March 31 the Juneau Symphony performed their fourth concert of the
2011-12 season and on April 1 took the concert on tour to Sitka. They
performed Brahms’ first Symphony, Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Marquez and
Grondahl’s Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra with guest soloist George
Jones from Sitka High School. The concerts and tour were a wonderful
success for the capital city orchestra and they wish to extend a
heartfelt thank you to the many business sponsors who make the Symphony
season possible.
Business donations make up 15 percent of the Symphony’s income and are a vital
part of the budget. The Symphony would especially like to recognize
their larger business sponsorships: Alaska Airlines; Alaska Pacific Bank;
Allen Marine; Alaska USA Federal Credit Union; Alaska Broadcast
Communications; BP; Chan’s Thai Kitchen; ConocoPhillips; Elgee, Rehfeld
and Mertz; ExxonMobil; Greens Creek Mining; Holland America; Juneau
Brass and Winds; Juneau Emergency Medical Associates; the Juneau Empire,
Resource Data, Inc.; Simpson, Tillinghast, Sorensen & Sheehan, P.C. and
Wells Fargo Bank.
The Juneau Symphony has just begun a special fundraising campaign for
their upcoming 50th Anniversary season in 2012-13 and has received very
positive feedback from our sponsors. We greatly appreciate the continued
support of our local business community and wish to recognize their
contributions to the thriving arts and culture scene in our capital city.
