Glacier Valley Elementary School would like to thank the Juneau community for supporting the school’s Art is Elementary and Juneau, Alaska Music Matters (JAMM) programs, which provide arts-integrated experiences to all K-5 students, as well as violin instruction to all of its kindergartners and first grade students.
In March, Glacier Valley hosted a Community Thank You Event to honor its community partners. At the event, teachers demonstrated lessons integrating the arts, student ambassadors gave tours of the artwork and intermediate students showcased their ballroom dance skills under the direction of artist-in-residence, Pat Belec. Also in attendance were Mayor Bruce Botelho, Representative Cathy Muñoz, representatives from Senator Egan’s and Senator Begich’s offices, City Assembly Member Karen Crane and Juneau School board members Phyllis Carlson, Kim Poole and Andi Story.
