Best Beginnings offers baby-with-book photo contest

A toddler, bound to be a voracious reader, teeths on Our Alaska Family, a book Best Beginnings offers to encourage early learning and development in young children. Best Beginnings is hosting a baby-with-book photo contest.

Best Beginnings is hosting a baby-with-book photo contest. It’s easy, quick, and fun. Just take a photo of your baby with one of the Babies on Track books – Our Alaska Family or Let’s Talk Alaska!

Photos with the most votes will be included in a Best Beginnings’ iMovie. Entry submissions and voting are on Best Beginnings’ Facebook page: and the contest continues through July 31.

Best Beginnings encourages those who enter to get creative and get family and friends to vote. People may vote for as many different photos as they wish, but only one vote per photo.

Don’t have Babies on Track? Sets are available for purchase at the Best Beginnings website. Best Beginnings produced the Babies on Track DVD-and-book set to foster early learning and healthy brain development. The basic message is that the more parents talk with their babies and young children — the more conversation and positive interaction that occur — the easier it is for babies to pick up language when they’re ready to start talking themselves.

Babies raised with more interaction have larger vocabularies, and they’re ready for kindergarten by age 5. If they’re ready for kindergarten, they’re more likely to be reading by third grade and then more likely to graduate high school.

Best Beginnings is a nonprofit advocate for early learning in Alaska. It is a statewide umbrella for Imagination Library, promotes and supports local early childhood partnerships, and produces and distributes materials and information for early learning.
