King Island Christmas auditions

King Island Christmas returns to kick off the 2012 holiday season with performances at both Aldersgate United Methodist Church the weekend after Thanksgiving and at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center during Gallery Walk weekend — and if all goes according to plan, on to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013. With libretto by playwright Deborah Brevoort and music by David Friedman, the oratorio is based on the chldren’s book of the same name, written by Jean Rogers and illustrated by Rie Muñoz. Last seen in Juneau in 2010, Deborah Smith, Missouri Smyth and Sharon Gaiptman join forces once again to bring the holiday favorite to Juneau and to honor Rogers and Muñoz by donating a portion of the funds raised for the arts endowment housed at the Juneau Community Fund.

Auditions are at Northern Light United Methodist Church. The first audition was on Aug. 11th, but audition time continues Aug. 13 and 14 starting at 6 p.m. Call Missouri Smyth at780-5225 or 209-6835 for more information and to schedule an audition time.
