Why did you join the fire service: I was bored and it seemed very exciting.

Favorite aspect of the fire service: I have worked my way up the officer ladder and have enjoyed the challenges along the way. I have tremendous loyalty to the department and feel I still have things to accomplish. I like both going into burning buildings and standing outside directing operations.

Reason nominated: Ray, known as Ray Ray, is being nominated for his dedication and loyalty to the department. Ray is currently in charge of the Douglas station which includes all the volunteers in the Juneau and Douglas area and all the apparatus in the Douglas station. He has been the main engineer for quite some time and responds frequently. He also has quite a stack of credentials and training hours. He truly represents our motto of “Readiness, Dedication, and Service” and we are lucky to have him on board.
