As summer reaches its peak and the downward slope of fall is in view, it is time again for Helping Hands’ annual fundraiser and auction dinner. Showcasing hand-boned turkey roasts, juicy sliced ham, delectable desserts and home-made dinner rolls, it has become an event anticipated by many Juneauites. With a silent, as well as a live, auction there will be a wide variety of items to bid on, including (but not limited to!) beautiful jewelry, art, handcrafted items, tour packages, gift certificates, etc. In addition, the ever popular auctioneer Matt Jones will be directing the bidding and delighting attendees with his cheerful, humorous demeanor.
So mark your calendar for August 25th and plan to bring the whole family to enjoy a mouthwatering dinner starting at 5 p.m. and entertaining auction starting at 6 p.m. at Valley Church, (formerly Valley Chapel), located at 9741 Mendenhall Loop Rd.
This is a family event — don’t leave anyone at home! A $10 donation for children age 10 to adult, $5.00 for children 3 to 9 years and 2 and under are free, for the dinner and auction. All proceeds go to Helping Hands, a local non-profit operated entirely by volunteers dedicated to providing food for those in need throughout Juneau and Southeast. Located at 6590 Glacier Highway, (in the former Switzer Village Rec Hall), Helping Hands is open to the public every Tuesday and Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
