The Friends of the Juneau Public Libraries sponsored the Summer Reading Program which kicked off on June 1 at the three public libraries. Included this summer were reading games, an author visit with award winning author Mac Barnett, family nights, family movies, storytimes, crafts, the Steven’s Puppet Company “Wizard of Oz” show, the Roustabout Circus and book reviews written by kids. All ages showed up for programs with parents, grandparents and friends.
More than 675 book reviews were received and posted at the three public libraries. Many thanks to the following businesses that donated gifts to kids writing book reviews for the libraries: The Alaska Fudge Company, Alaska Robotics, Alaska T-Shirt Company, Alaska Zipline Adventures, Amazing Book Store, Aurora Project, Bear’s Lair, Foggy Mountain Shop, Gold Town Nickelodeon, Gross Alaska Theatre, Hearthside Books, Juneau’s Imagination Station, Juneau Rubber Stamp Co., McDonald’s, Mount Roberts Tramway, Nugget Alaska Outfitters, Observatory Bookstore, Peer Amid Beads, Rainy Retreat Books, Trove Shop and Valley Paint.
