Family Caregiver Groups change meeting days

Beginning in September, the monthly Family Caregiver Support Group hosted by Southeast Senior Services will begin meeting on the second Wednesday of each month.

“This change in the day of the week was made to allow caregivers with obligations on other days in the week to attend,” said Joylynn Lake, Family Caregiver Specialist with Southeast Senior Services. The group will still meet at noon in KTOO’s first floor conference room.

September also marks the startup of the monthly Family Caregiver Training, after a summer hiatus. This group will switch to the fourth Wednesday of each month, and will also meet at noon in KTOO’s first floor conference room.

In recognition of September being National Falls Prevention Month, the September 26 training topic will be “Practical Tips for Preventing Falls,” presented by Nancy Jamison with the Division of Senior and Disabilities Services.

Both events are free and open to all unpaid family caregivers; brown bag lunches are welcome at both. Call, Joylynn at 463-6177 for more information on these events and other offerings by the Senior Information and Caregiver Resource Center.
