Journey to Wellness

Thank you to all of the donors and volunteers for the success of the Journey to Wellness this summer.

The Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska’s (CCTHITA) Elder Caregivers Program would like to thank all of the local organizations and community members who contributed to the 2012 Journey to Wellness “Gook Déi!” and the “Champion’s Potluck” Luncheon.

A total of 97 Tlingit and Haida tribal citizens and elders registered for this year’s event. We received many testimonials and positive comments from participants regarding their improved health and their appreciation for the program and the wonderful door prizes throughout the event. We appreciate the generous contributions which make the event successful and appealing.

Awards winners were: Irene Cadiente “Most Inspirational” participant, Amy Michel “Healthiest” participant, Donna James “Best JTW Photo”, Ed Kunz “Best Healthy Recipe”, Mary Miller “Best Verbal Testimony”, Nora Daunhauer “Best Written Testimony”

The following organizations donated prizes: CCTHITA donated grand prizes, Sealaska donated grand prizes, Goldbelt Inc. donated prizes, Mount Roberts Tram donated tram tickets, Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority donated grand prizes, SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium Health Promotion donated general door prizes, Huna Totem Corporation donated general door prizes, Cornerstone Home Health, Inc., T&H Elders Caregivers Program also donated

Local Merchants and Individuals who donated were: Bullwinkle’s Pizza Parlor, The Driftwood Lodge, Taku Smokeries, Connie Munro, Andrea Ebona-Michel and Andy Ebona
