Shepherd of the Valley news and thanks

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church will host a blessing of the animals in honor of St. Francis on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 5:30 pm. Bring your pet by for a treat and a prayer of thanksgiving. This is a short service and a great chance to give thanks for the animals who surround us.

Shepherd of the Valley is located on Mendenhall Loop across from Taku Blvd. Pets must be on a leash or in a cage. For more information, please call 789-4093.

Additionally, the summer lunch program at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church would like to give thanks to the community for helping us serve 692 meals this past summer to youth in our surrounding neighborhood. We would especially like to thank the Lutheran Synod of Alaska, Eagle’s Wings Community Church, Association of Alaska School Boards’ Initiative for Community Engagement, the Douglas-Dornan Foundation of the Juneau Community Foundation, Aldersgate Methodist, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, numerous volunteers from around the community and all the youth who helped prepare and eat those yummy meals.

Thanks for a great summer and we look forward to seeing you again this summer.
