Sitka WhaleFest

Planning a trip to Sitka? WhaleFest kicks off November with everything from a market to cruises and music.

The market at WhaleFest features 20 exhibitors with books, glass, beadwork, waterproof bags and more. There will be a silent auction and cafe as well, with proceeds supporting the Barracuda Swim Club. The market opens Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at Harrigan Centennial Hall and continues through Nov. 4.

Good Dog will perform a family friendly concert, also at Harrigan Centennial Hall, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person, available at Old Harbor Books and at the door.

WhaleFest mixes fun and education with whale watching cruises with Whalefest scientists and researchers aboard an Allen Marine vessel. Cruises are available Nov. 3-4, leaving Crescent Harbor at 9 a.m. and returning at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at Old Harbor Books.

The WhaleFest and Sitka Sound Science Center reception will be held Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sage Building. It will feature Ludvig’s chowder and a no host bar with Sitka WhaleFest Wine. The reception celebrates the science center’s fifth anniversary.

Keynote speaker, fisherman, writer and photographer Seth Kantner will be the highlight of a banquet Nov. 3 at Harrigan Centennial Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the catered banquet are $65 per person.
