Alaskan Brewing Co. and local businesses have teamed up to present the fashion show fundraiser “No Umbrellas 2: Real Fashion 4 Real Alaskans,” to be held Saturday, Nov. 17 at Centennial Hall from 6-9 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Red Cross of Southeast Alaska and their local relief efforts for victims of the recent Gastineau Apartments fire.
“All of the local support we received for last year’s event made it a huge success,” said Alaskan Brewing Depot representative and No Umbrellas coordinator Denise Grant in a press release. “This year, we are growing the event with a larger venue, more businesses joining, and hopefully more donations for the Red Cross.”
The 2012 show will feature fashions and merchandise from Alaskan Dames, Aurora Projekt, Choco, Charity Green Designs, Fairweather Gallery, Juneau Drug, Kodiak Coats, Shoefly, TP Designs, the Alaskan Brewing Company Depot, and more. The event will also include a no host bar by the Rendezvous, a silent auction, and halftime show from the Juneau Roller Girls. Attendees must be at least 21.
“We are working closely with the Red Cross of Alaska, who has let us know that all of the money raised from No Umbrellas will stay in Southeast to provide for immediate shelter, food, clothing and building supplies for housing that is considered a total loss due to fire,” explained Grant.
Tickets for the show are $25 when purchased in advance and $30 at the door. Tickets are available at Hearthside Books, the Juneau Arts & Culture Center, and the Alaskan Brewing Company Depot on Franklin Street, or online at jahc.org or alaskanbeer.com.
