In recognition of World AIDS Day, observed on Dec. 1 every year, The Four A’s (Alaskan AIDS Assistance Association) will be hosting two events.
First, the Four A’s will present an award winning documentary about two coalitions whose activism turned AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition.
“How to Survive a Plague” will be shown at 7 p.m. at the Gold Town Theatre on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Admission is $9 for the general public, and $7 for students, with all proceeds benefiting the Four A’s.
The event is co-sponsored by the UAS Gay-Straight Alliance. For more on the film, visit www.surviveaplague.com.
Second, the Four A’s will host a World AIDS Day Candle Light Vigil at 6 p.m. at the Baranof Hotel’s Franklin St. Gallery on Saturday, Dec. 1. The vigil will be held in honor of all people living with HIV/AIDS, and in rememberance of those who have died.
