Gold Creek Child Development Center (GCCDC) hosted the second annual Tot Rave on Nov. 10 at the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery (DIPAC). Young children — and many parents — danced the night away under the view of curious fish.
The event’s success required the support of many Juneau individuals and businesses, and we are extremely grateful for the support we received from DIPAC; Complete Warrior Mixed Martial Arts Academy, who demonstrated anti-bullying moves that even young kids could master to defend themselves; and the wonderful dance instruction of Janice Hurley, who managed to get kids, young and old, to do the Hand Jive and Macarena. A special shout out to DJ White Chocolate for spinning a squeaky-clean set that both parents and kids enjoyed!
Several local businesses and individuals donated items for the wonderful silent auction. We would like to thank Pavitt Health and Fitness, The Rookery Café, Rodfather’s Broiler, Pie in the Sky, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Samia Savell, Hearthside Books, Nugget Alaskan Outfitter, Juneau Flyfishing Goods, Alaskan Brewing Company, Coastal Helicopters, B’s Bakery and Bistro, Turf for Tots, Eaglecrest, Amy Mead, Alaska Outdoor Wearhouse, Taku Smokeries, Seong’s Sushi, the Coast Guard Enlisted Association, Taku Lodge and Wings of Alaska for their generous and fantastic donations. We are tickled that so many great businesses and individuals support such a fun event for young children.
A special thank you goes out to all the parents and their children who came to dance and eat and party with the fish. In a town full of worthy causes and more fundraisers than Subarus, it’s nice to know you came to our little shindig.
Thank you, Juneau, for your support of quality childcare.
