On behalf of the Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska, we would like to offer a big thank you to everyone who helped us to raise awareness during November, Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
The month-long event included presentations, special events and memory screenings across the state.
Our many partners who made these month-long events possible in Southeast Alaska included B’s Bakery and Bistro who displayed our Art Links Program artthroughout the month of November, Southeast Senior Services for sending out email reminders and publicizing these events through the Senior Care News and the Gastineau Channel Senior Center’s News, The Juneau Public Library for the use of their display case, The Juneau Empire, KTOO, KINY, the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council, KRBD, Ketchikan’s “The Local Paper” and Skagway News for publicizing these events in their communities and The Ketchikan Senior Center for the use of their space for Memory Screening Day. Additionally, we would like to thank our Research Forum guest speaker, Brian Edmonds, Ph.D., from the University of Alaska Fairbanks who presented “What’s Trending Now in Alzheimer’s Research” at Centennial Hall.
A special thank you to everyone who participated in our Memories Through My Eyes, writing contest. Please check our website www.alzalaska.org to read the grand prize winning entry. As you may imagine, these entries were difficult to choose between and each writer touched our hearts with their entry.
