A dedicated crew

This afternoon it was getting dark downtown when a tremendous noise was heard on the street. Sure enough, it was a snowplow clearing Franklin Street once again. I was led to reflect on the amazing job the city street crew does all winter.

When I first moved here some years ago, I was startled to find the short, steep street downtown where I live was plowed, usually around 6:00 a.m. right after, and often during, snowstorms. This was, and remains, impressive. So many cities with heavy winter snows take care of the main streets only. Side streets are ignored. I am sure Juneau’s residents join me in thanking the loyal and hardworking snowplow crews for their fine work. Besides the streets, they also plow Basin Road regularly. Thank you. Well done!
