Annual Fund & Alumni Relations Manager Keni Campbell, center, with University of Alaska Southeast Director of Development and Alumni Relations Lynne Johnson, left, and Chancellor John Pugh, earned certification as a fund raising executive.

CFRE International has named Keni Campbell a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). As Annual Fund & Alumni Relations Manager, Campbell is a member of the University of Alaska Southeast development team, focusing on increasing private support for student scholarships, teaching, research and programs.

Campbell and colleague Lynne Johnson, UAS Director of Development & Alumni Relations, are the only two fund-raisers with the CFRE designation in Juneau. There are only 32 designees in the state of Alaska, and 5,200 professionals around the world who hold the CFRE designation.

Those granted the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by CFRE International which include tenure in the profession, education, demonstrated fundraising achievement and a commitment to service to not-for-profit organizations. They have also passed a rigorous written examination testing the knowledge, skills and abilities required of a fundraising executive, and have agreed to uphold accountability standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.

“I am honored to serve as a professional in this noble field,” said Campbell, “I am grateful for the experience I’ve gained and the support I have received working for UAS.”

Campbell is responsible for working with the UAS Alumni Association as well as stewarding donors and securing gifts to the University. Campbell joined the University of Alaska Southeast in 2006 as the alumni relations manager, after leaving the Alaska Council of School Administrators. She holds a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree from Alaska Pacific University. She has made her home in Juneau since 1995, when she moved from Anchorage with her husband and their two children.

“The CFRE credential was created to identify for the public and employers those individuals who possess the knowledge, skills and commitment to perform fundraising duties in an effective and ethical manner,” said Jim Caldarola, CFRE, Chair of CFRE International in a press release.

CFRE recipients are awarded certification for a three-year period. In order to maintain certification status, certificants must demonstrate on-going fundraising employment and fundraising results, and continue with their professional education. Employers and donors who work with CFREs know they are getting a professional who is committed to the best outcomes for their organization and has the requisite knowledge and skills.
