Free computer classes

The Learning Center (TLC) offers free computer classes. Interested individuals may register the first day of classes at the 210 Ferry Way location.


Introduction to Computers, Internet and Email meets Monday and Wednesday evenings, Feb. 4-25, from 5-7 p.m. 

This course is designed for new computer users or those in need of a course covering the basics; for the pace of the course it is recommended to commit to coming to all or most classes.

Intermediate (Level 2) Microsoft Word 2010 meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Feb. 5-26, from 5-7 p.m.

This course is designed for students who have completed Introduction to Word or have had some basic exposure to using Word; for the pace of the course it is recommended to commit to coming to all or most classes — call or see instructor regarding late admissions.

Job Search, Resume Creation, Using ALEXsys, Keyboarding and Open Lab Computer Training is available Mondays and Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m. This open lab format workshop involves individual and small group instruction for computers and online job search guidance.

ALEXsys Job Search Workshops co-facilitated with the Juneau Job Center staff will be held at The Learning Connection Thursdays, Feb. 7 and 21 from 10 a.m.-noon.

TLC staff encourage interested individuals to come in during the above times to receive assistance and create a plan. TLC will be closed Feb. 18, a Monday, for President’s day. For more information, visit or call 586-5718.
