February is Black History Month and the Black Awareness Association will sponsor its Annual Soul Food Dinner on Saturday evening, Feb. 23 at 6:00pm at the Tlingit and Haida Community Center located on Hospital Drive.
The dinner is the group’s biggest fundraiser of the year, which supports efforts in awarding scholarships to graduating high school students who desire to continue their educational careers.
The menu includes fried catfish, BBQ ribs and fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, sweet potatoes, blackeyed peas, greens, cornbread, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler and drinks. The evening will include a program which will include a tribute to the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans.
Advance tickets on sale at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center and Hearthside Books; adult tickets are $30, students $20. At the door adult tickets are $33, students $23.
