Fat Tuesday Follies

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church invites Juneau to attend Fat Tuesday Follies, 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. The Follies features a pancake dinner and variety show, and is a free event (though free will donations will help buy food for the SOV community food pantry). Pancakes are served until everyone is full; the variety show begins right around 6 p.m. Shepherd of the Valley is located at 4212 Mendenhall Loop Road.

The night before Ash Wednesday is often referred to as Fat Tuesday, referring to the “traditional” last night to eat fatty foods before the religious obligations and fasting associated with Lent. Pancakes are traditional “fat” celebration fare (as they are full of sugar, fat and eggs, and are oft smothered with butter and syrup).
