Sharon Barton, fifth from left, claimed first and second prize at Rotaract's fourth annual Chili Cook-Off for ShelterBox. She is pictured with Rotaract members, from left to right, Jake Lauten, Alicia Maryott, Jeff Bacon, Amanda Spickler, Brandi Campbell, Tally Teal, Amanda Beasinger, Angela Gowdy, Chelsea Gagnon, Catharine Boice and Alex Miller.

Sharon Barton was the winner of both first and second place prizes, a crockpot and an apron, at Rotaract’s fourth annual Chili Cook-off. Barton won first for a chicken and white bean recipe, and second for a more traditional beef chili. Rotaract hosts the annual event to have fun and to raise money for ShelterBox. Each ShelterBox supplies an extended family with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. They are at the forefront of disaster relief. Each green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
