Thank you for another successful High Gravity Games

We at the Alaskan Brewing Company want to thank everyone who made the 2013 Annual High Gravity Games such a resounding success! Our third annual event showcased dozens of participants competing at the highest levels of athletic achievement and goofiness! A great time was had by all, and we were able to help out a great organization.

Southeast Alaska Independent Living, SAIL, will be the recipient of the funds raised by registration, hot dog and Alaskan Brewing beer sales and ticket buyers for the Keg Toss — in all, $4,101 raised.

SAIL is an amazing organization that allows many people in our community to lead more independent lives. They also participated in the competition, with two teams that included Olympians Joe Tompkins and Hilary Lindh.

All of the participants had a great time, and all the spectators did too, helped in no small part by the festive atmosphere in the Alaskan Brewing Beer Garden and the occasionally sunny weather. For some great photos of the events and the crowd, check out the High Gravity Games photos link on the News section of our website at In particular, look for giant albino salamanders, six-foot-tall pansies, and Xena - Warrior Princess!

We want to thank first and foremost Eaglecrest — for hosting this wonderful event each year and dedicating many hours to pulling it all off. The volunteers and crew at Eaglecrest make this event fun and safe every year with a great course for racing, and provide extra bus runs for customers of the beer garden.

We also want to thank all of the sponsors, including Above & Beyond Alaska, Blue Nose Surf, Wings Airways/Taku Lodge, Northstar Trekking, Heritage Coffee, Coastal Helicopters, Tracy’s Crab Shack, Alaska Canopy Adventures, Alaska Zipline Adventures, Temsco Helicopters, Jerry’s Meats & Seafoods, Cycle Alaska, Perseverance Theatre, DIPAC Macauley Salmon Hatchery, Era Heli-Flight Seeing, Jorgenson House, Pavitt Health & Fitness, Gastineau Guiding, AK Litho, KATH-TV and Marlintini’s Lounge.

None of this would have happened without the support of these organizations and, of course, the work of the many volunteers and crew of Alaskan Brewing and Eaglecrest. Once again, thank you so much for making this event a huge success! See you next year, and cheers!
