American Cancer Society thanks

On March 13, volunteers delivered daffodils to those who had ordered throughout the community. This brought many smiles to people’s faces, as this was the sign that spring is coming.

This fundraiser was sponsored by the American Cancer Society for many years. This year we brought in $20,440. As many are aware, this is the last year for this program. The Daffodil program started in Juneau in 1982. This program could not have been possible without all of the volunteers and from those who purchased daffodils throughout the years. We want to give a big thanks for all who participated in this wonderful program.

Of course, each year there are many volunteers that assist with the setup of the program, sorting, sales and delivery. This could not be done this year without the help and assistance of Lisa Ryals of Lisa Davidson’s Boutique, Judy Weske, Barbara Gabier, Carol Whelan, Dorothy Burnett, Roscoe Palmer, Christi and Craig Long, Jan Somerville, Chris Donak, Mark Milea, Kathy and Fred Schmitz, Tina Seaton and Cynthia Meyer of Tenakee Springs.

Thanks also goes out to Curves, Holly’s Hallmark, Alaska Seaplanes, Bartlett Regional Hospital Cafeteria, Lisa Davidson’s Boutique, Alaska Marine Lines, Capital Chat and Sharon Gaiptman, KINY’s Pete Carran and Goldbelt Management for the use of the lobby.

If we should forget anyone we apologize. Again, a big thank you for your support this year and all the years since 1982.

Wanda Fleming and Lisa Ryals
