Juneau-Douglas High School’s Student Council voted during their regular meeting on Dec. 6, 2012 to donate the proceeds from their annual spirit change event during homecoming week to United Way of Southeast Alaska. The event is part of the overall competition between grade levels. Broken down into four jars (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior), silver coins counted as positive points and pennies counted as negative points in the jars of the competition. Over the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, JDHS students raised $636.81 for United Way of Southeast Alaska.
