The 2013 Juneau Douglas High School National Ocean Sciences Bowl teams would like to thank our main sponsor, Coeur Alaska, for their continued support of NOSB in Juneau. With the help of Coeur, teams from both Thunder Mountain and Juneau-Douglas High schools were able to travel not only to Seward for the annual state competition, but also to Ketchikan in order to scrimmage with other teams from Southeast. The generous contributions Coeur makes annually to our NOSB program not only helped get all three teams to Ketchikan and Seward, but will also go toward travel to Wisconsin where the State Champions, Team Pogonophoraphobia from JDHS, will battle the best from around the country. Team Pogonophoraphobia will also now be able to visit University of Alaska Fairbanks’ brand new research vessel, the Sikuliaq, one of the most advanced research vessels in the world.
All of the Juneau NOSB teams put forth a great deal of hard work and dedication, and without the charitable donations from sponsors like Coeur, the teams would not be able to travel to Seward and down south where they will represent all of Alaska. Thank you again to Coeur and all our other sponsors.
